KATT FORE celebrates the quiet strength of women who do it all. This month, Neada Deters shares how her skincare philosophy became the foundation for LESSE - her clinically advanced botanical brand built on the principle that less is more.
We are genuinely inspired by her story and kindness and are honored to have her here.
Where did the idea for LESSE come from and what has been your biggest inspiration when developing LESSE?
For years, I was an editor interviewing beauty experts and testing every product on the market, yet my own skin continued to struggle. After more than a decade of searching for uncompromising, truly efficacious solutions, I finally decided to create my own.
LESSE is the result of years of ingredient research and innovation. We push the boundaries of natural skin care, combining rare active botanicals with advanced biotechnology to create transformative formulas that elevate and simplify the ritual of skin care.
There are countless threads of inspiration that wove together the vision that shaped and the values that underpin what LESSE is today, but our singular focus is to create exceptional and innovative formulas that lead to meaningful, visible results.
You grew up in Australia and have lived in LA and New York. How have these different countries and cities with their cultures influenced your approach to skincare and daily rituals?
Australia shaped my reverence for nature and led me to view skin care as an integral aspect of our overall health. I was raised in Sydney, by the ocean and in the sun; that connection to nature remains with you, no matter where you live.
New York is a city that demands efficacy, efficiency and integrity. Operating from and living here inspires us, as a company, to pursue excellence and set a higher standard in every aspect of LESSE; from the ingredients and innovation, to our packaging and business practices.

Running a business - especially a self-funded one - comes with its pressures. What practices or rituals help you stay grounded when things get overwhelming?
Slow mornings and movement. When things become particularly overwhelming, I find a long call with family or a close friend helps me to recenter and reconnect with who I am beyond the work.
What does comfort mean to you personally, and how do you build it into your daily life?
Comfort is embodying who you are—free of anyone else’s sense of who you should be or any kind of social ideal.
What does your ideal daily uniform look like? Are there any brands or pieces you consistently reach for?
A blazer or trench coat with tailored trousers or a long skirt. All of my favourite pieces are vintage, mostly Prada or Tom Ford era Gucci.
What is your biggest dream for the (near) future?
Personally, I’m dreaming of a quiet life somewhere more remote and ideally near the ocean. For humanity at large, I constantly dream of a world where compassion defines our way of life.
